Default low profile windshield

Funny story... I recently purchased a windshield for my bike and decided that it is too tall. So traded for a "low profile" windshield. Now (get this) I find the windshield too short!. At 5'10'' I should have fit the normal windshield. What I want to know is how many folks of regular height use the low profile windshield. I'm personally am not sold on the low profile as it is too short, but find the regular windshield slightly tall for me.

Windshields can be cut down a little just takes a little finesse if not sure how it's done a good glass shop can do it for you...

Been contemplating one of those things for the new Fat Bob I have on order. Don't like windshields in general but nice on long trips. When you remove that screen does it mean you got ugly brackets left on the handlebars?

WOW! How ironic, I'm having the same issue. I just got the Nostalgic Standard Height Windshield but wow is that thing tall. I'm 6'5" and use a aftermarket seat that sits me lower on my 07 FatBoy. I put it on and seems I'm looking thru the shield and not above it (not by much). And does that thing look dorky on my bike or what? Thinking about exchanging for the low profile but after reading your post I'm not sure what to do. Definitely don't want any helmet buffeting.

I had a Clearview (9.5' w/ recurve) on my Ultra and ordered a 8" with recurve for the new SG. The windshield on my Springer is 15" which is comparable to a 17" shield on a standard front end. I like to keep the windshield just below eye level.

maybe the FatBoy has a higher front end than the Deluxe or Heritage? which will give the standard height windshield a taller look?

I would post a picture but it's been so long since I did that I have forgot how to.

but in any case I think the Nostalgic Standard on my 07 FatBoy is too tall, granted the eyes are barely looking over the top. Plus the fact that I'm on a Lepera which sits me down. My HD Parts guy would be pissed if I exchanged if for a low profile and then realized I should have stuck with the original Standard.....but then again .....so what! I want it right!

I have the low profile and had one on my last Sportster also, I am also 5'10", I hate looking through a windshield so it works for me, it keeps the wind off my chest and enough wind off my face so my normal riding glasses stay tight. It also cuts wind noise dramatically.

I'm 5' 10" and use a 9" FastAire shield. With my half helmet there was some buffeting, not bad. I recently got a Nolan 3/4 helmet and no throuble at all. I really like seeing over the shield. Here is a pic of the new shield.
