When I purchased my '98 Fat Boy recently, the PO told me that the rear tire was almost new- a Metzeler ME880. He recommended I replace the front tire before long, as it's original. I was thinking of another ME880, but noticed that they're bias ply. Just curious if anyone on here would recommend the ME880 front over the stock Dunlop? Any other brand recommendations?
Dunlops SUCK!!! I have Metzlers on my Roadie and Softail, and Avon Venoms on my Dyna. I will be changing over to Avon because I like the way the bike handles. I get a better feel for road w/ those tires. I do give up a few miles for wear, but I will take the handling.
I run Metzeler front and back .... I go through three rears to one front... I wish I knew how some of you guys get so many miles out of your rears... I'm lucky if I get 7K usually 5 to 6 K and then the rear is shot.... (yes, I keep the tire pressure up to specs)
Well I guess pulling the trailer with the dogs does not help the mileage... I get 8 or 9K out of the Dunlops on my other bike pulling the same trailer... But I don't like them in the rain or the mountain roads...
