Default Throw-over saddle bags

Does anybody have experience with these? Do they hit the exhaust or tire?

The old ones I had on my old Sportster didn't hit the exhaust. If you happen to get a set that don't fasten well on the lower part of the bag, they'll flap in the breeze. My thought is to get permanent bags or detatchables.

Before buying the Ultra, I had a set of throw overs for my fatboy. I loved them. I could ride without them until a wekend trip and throw on the bags under the seat and be off. Mine sat against these little dodad bags I have, so they didn't rub. They had some leather ties I attached to the swing arm. They worked great for me. I bought them on ebay a few years ago for $100.00. Sold them 2 years later for $70.00.

I agree with oldgeezer. Throw overs seem attractive...good price, easy on/off... but they can be a pain to tie down and get to stay where you want them. permanent or detachables are the way to go IMO.

I have a set that go under the seat and then tie them down with no problem. The only issue is the rub on the swing arm on the exhaust side and on the belt guard on the other so now I cover these two parts with duct tape, issue solved.

As long as you put the saddlebag brakets on the bike, you will be fine. the Brackets won't allow the bag to make contact. I had them on my Fatboy, Willie and Max throwover bags, I tied them to the bracket with zip ties. If I wanted them off, took all of 30 seconds to clip the ties, lift the seat, and remove. no biggey and they looked awesome on the bike.
