as some of you recall i was feeling pretty low and almost to the point of becoming morose. i did ride, but i did not make ot to my designated destination. instead, i went from chicago's western 'burbs around beautiful lake michgan to the beach town of pentwater, michigan. there are a lot of beach towns along the way and i hit 'em all. it was cold and damp, and my butt just ain't used to a trip quite that long.
at the end of the day, i clocked just over five hundred miles, and that included some photographs, the ingestion of one burger, one fish sandwich, one guinness stout, one jack, some michigan apples, a horrible cigar, and lots of coffee and water.
i don't know why i felt so fatigued, but it could have been simply coming off some of the emotional stress that comes with feeling low...and with the unbelievably staisfying relief which can only be attained by riding the coolest bike on the planet.
i made it back to my tiny cottage in the woods and had a fire...alone, save for my buddy, alice cooper, on his radio show out of south bend, indiana. well, and my other bud, mr. daniels. we all got along quite well.
you guys are great. 1goindiesel: why has it taken me this long to "feel" that brotherhood which you mentioned? i am a damn slow learner. zonplyr: sorry i didn't make it to frankfort. i would have loved to tell your dad hi from his son.
funny how things turn out. i ended up getting an invite to the sox game on sunday and i watched 'em win with my girl and good friends. i popped for everything including a great pie at pizzeria due. what a turnaround.
thanks again to all for your encouraging words from the brotherhood which i am only now beginning to appreciate.
Yeah, it's been said that sometimes it takes a tank of gas to clear (and clean out) your mind. Sometimes a couple of tanks.
All the best to ya - stay in the wind.

Jyoumb, glad you had such a great ride. That "brotherhood" is one of the primary reasons I ride a Harley but any bike will do. Watch what HOG has in store for a Posse ride next year and join in. They are fantastic rides, I have great friends all over the country I have met on these rides and still ride with. I will meet you at the next one and buy the first round. If your ever around central Tx PM me and I will show you some beautiful country to ride in. Take care and keep on riding...Diesel
Glad to hear that you made it back. People who don't ride can't understand the peace that comes with riding a motorcycle. When I ride I am the coolest cat around.
