Question Boot Recommendations

Looking for recommendations for a general purpose riding boot. Tennis shoes just don't look quite right with chaps!

I have two pair, Chippewa and Red Wing. I'm happy with both. Dunno what you mean by "general purpose."

I like Dr. Marten and 5.11. If not that and I wanted a boot just for riding, I'd go get some tanker boots at the surplus store.

Das reitaufladungen.......jah

You'll find most of the guys in here wear hiking boots (Redwings, etc), or HD boots. I've used both, and currently have a pair of the HD engineer type.
If you just want them to wear when it's colder, I'd recommend something without laces....imo laced aren't quite as warm.

Something for all seasons, not just for cold weather. With the lowers on my Electra Glide my feet stay fairly warm even on cold mornings, so far...

Thanks for the replys.

I'm a older rider and back in the days of biking we all ways used steel toe shoe for the protection. I even have high top steel toe tennis shoes. You can wear some cool looking shoe like hiking boots but if hit something with any speed what would you want to look cool or be protected.

HEY! The dude on "Sons of Anarchy" wears tennis shoes, ain't he the coolest biker out there today??

Me, I have sworn by Red Wings over the years, my favorites are a logger boot, insulated and waterproof. Now that I've gone from footpegs to floorboards, I've started wearing Wolverine hiking boots, not quite as tall as the Red Wings, but every bit as comfortable adn also waterproof. Just my $.02.
