I purchased all but a few of the items on my Bike on Ebay. Most all of them "new" (might be hot, never asked) and have saved a "Ton" of $$$$$. Just bought a Gas Tank for a Springer Classic with the Emblems and trim for $41.00. Happier than a Pig in Chit about that one.
Just wondering how many of you have done the same?
I'll admit it, I've been a serious eBayer since 2001. With more people gettin' on ebay anymore, your prices go higher. Good for the seller, but bad for the buyer. Used to be able to buy bike parts for about 30-50 % of the cost of new, anymore, it depends on what it is.. I've saved a lot of $ though. No doubt about it.

I buy everything on Ebay from my jacket to my pipes, handlebars, saddlebags ($20 for new Willie & Max throw-overs), etc.
I love Ebay. I get rid of stuff I don't need and find bargains.
I use a proggy called Auction Sentry Deluxe to place my bids. I have it set to place my bid 5 seconds before the auction ends. It stops bidding wars and causes me to think ahead about the max I would pay. No one has time to place a higher bid after mine comes in. The proggy synchronizes itself with Ebay's clock 1 minute before the bid is placed.
I figure I get ripped of some way or another on 1% of the items I buy. Not bad if you just roll with that. That's a small percentage to pay. I have over 600 feed backs which means I must have had 1,000 transactions since 1999 because not everyone leaves feedback.
That reminds me. I need to get busy and sell some stuff and clean out my garage. I'm swimming in Harley parts and computer parts out there.
I sell some cycle accessories online, but the bigger dealers get bigger discounts than i do so i can still buy from them on e-bay cheaper than buying from the manufacturer in some cases.
e-bay is always my first source for shopping.
I bought my fingerless gloves, assless chaps, and emergency kickstand spring on eBay, as well as a 1965 Allstate 250 motorcycle a few years ago, which I loved riding.
What is it with people paying more for used stuff than new? I've a friend that was looking for stuff for his Road King Police like passenger floorboards and poeple are paying more for them than they cost new.It just boggles the mind.

eBay is great for bike stuff, but sometimes you gotta be careful. I just bought a digital speedo and Progressive Shocks off eBay, and had no problems. In the past I've had some trouble, mostly from poor communication and slow shipping....
I've been a ebay member since 01. One of the things I buy is obsolete MX bike parts. I am currently working on: 81 KDX420 and a 86 XR600R. I have bought and sold classic cars and parts and I stole my Deuce for $5000 less then retail. There are a lot of bargains but knowing what things are worth helps with decision making. Where else are you going to get a 1970 340 six pack intake, carbs and install kit for less then $300! My sons project is a 1970 Cuda' 340 4 speed that we are cloning to a AAR. I love E bodies!
