Went on a ride today with a group of people and one of the guys was riding one of these. He did say it was somewhat like riding a snowmobile, and took a little getting use to. He did a little modification to it and added some hiway pegs. Also said he kinda missed having the hand brake. We all teased him saying we were gonna pool our cash together if he would at least do a stoppie for us. =) To bad it has linked brakes.

I'd like to 'try' one, but not sure I'd move something outta the grudge to make room for it.

HD is dabbling in this concept also.

Interesting analogy. I LOVE riding my quad, especially around the corners. But I'm going 25 to 45 on that thing. I can't imagine what the Spyder would feel like at 50+ around the corners.

Curious ... how does the Spyder compare to other trikes? I've ridden a couple custom jobs (MotoTrike and a Lehman) so I know how they feel. I've also ridden an old Servicar from the MoCo and there is a world of difference between that thing and the modern trikes.

Hi
Why would anyone get one of those things? I rode one a couple of years ago two up. I thought I was going to be thrown off. Had to hold on for all my life. Horrible ride.
You do not lean you steer, might as well get a 4 wheeler instead. I would not have one even if it were free.

Hubby bought one of those this summer. He loves thing! It's nothing compared to driving a motorcyle in many ways. Handles completely different, especially at higher speeds and on corners. There is a ton of engineering on the design. It can stablize if one wheel slips or spins and the front wheels slightly lean when cornering to help compensate for the square angles of the machine to the road ... so although it is much like a quad, it is designed to go hwy speeds. On it's own merit it can be a lot of fun. I love the 'trunk' ... It's freek'n huge!

Personally, I think it's as ugly as allgetout, but it's fun to tool around town. I would never want to take it on a long trip ... Not as comfortable as a motorcycle.

It's a cool toy.

That's not entirely true ... actually, you do lean much like you would if your were on a snowmachine. You are still dealing with centrifugal force and momentum. It doesn't ride like a motorcycle nor a quad because it is NOT either one of those. It's an animal of a completely different colour, although there are similarities.

You have to take it for what it is. If you're expecting to fly to Hawaii in a jumbo jet but use a farm tractor instead ... you would be disappointed in the ride, too.

Exactly my thoughts. I'd still like to try one out, though.
