Default 1200 sporster or vrod

Im curious on which of these to go for. I live in the city so I need an appropriate cruiser. I have a few questions. Im looking at the 1200 custom sportster and the vrsc street rod. I have a few questions.

- which of these bikes is more nimble, and by how much?
- i ride 2 up often. can the sporster handle this well enough? I weigh 150
- how would u compare the 2 overall... comfort, speed, handling, braking, etc

thanks.

The sportster would be the better city bike, it is lighter and more nimble than a vrod. The vrod likes to move and needs some open roads. Its also a bit heavier than the sporty.

If I had the money for a V-rod I'd get one (if it was not my first ride like the nightster). I mean damn that bike is sexy.

Never rode a V-Rod but I did own a 2004 Sportster 1200C. It's a rough two up bike. Was riding with my wife one day and hit a bump and I thought she was going to fall off. I sold it and bough the RK. Single rider, it's a great bike.

Friends have/had both. 1200 Sporty would make a good 'city bike,' but yea it's a bit rough for the passenger two up, unless you really put some money into a nicer seat, backrest etc, even then it'll be marginal. Vrod's are cool bikes but definitely not meant for two up, and are really meant for more spirited riding than you'll find in/around a city.

I would have to say a Sport with a few mods,Test rode a v rod muscle,my hands went to sleep in about 5 minutes, the riding position is very weird, alot more vibration than I thought they would have, seemed to have unlimited rpms, power seemed ok,just uncomfortable, too metric looking, not my cup o tea.

While not quite as nimble as a Sporty, the VROD is still very nimble IMO and does great around town. Also since it's a bigger bike, it's more suited for 2-up riding, also IMO. Personally, I find the VROD (the Night Rod Special to be exact) is more comfortable, more centered, feels more stable since it sits pretty low. Sportys are pretty tall bikes. The only downside I would see to getting the VROD over the Sporty is gas mileage, the Sporty has the upper hand there. My $.02.

Personally I like classic motorcycles, which is why I bought a Harley in the first place. A new Harley (except the VROD) is basically a replica of their classic ancestors. The VROD has its own place and I actually wouldn't mind owning one some day, but it isn't a classic motorcycle.

As far as performance, the Sportster is lighter and more nimble. The VROD has 50cc on the Sporty (1200cc vs. 1250cc, 79ft-lbs vs. 84ft-lbs) but weighs around 80lbs more.
