Default H-D Rentals...?

I'm in the Northern VA area and I'm looking to try out a Heritage before I buy one. Unfortunately, the only place I've found that rents them is Eaglerider Rentals in Chantilly, VA.

The problem is that they want $150/day for the rental, which sounds ridiculous to me, as just picking one up for the weekend would cost me over $300, not including gas!!

Anyone have any ideas on how/where I could rent one for less?

Tell em you'll give em $100.00 a day. I've had them give one to me for that. Worst they can do is say no. I know it's still a good chunk of change but it's better than making a +/- $20,000.00 mistake.

Eaglerider rates are generally lower than other means of harley rentals. The $150 a day sounds about right, you do have to think about the risks and insurance and the seasonality of the big picture. $300 for a weekend is less than many pay for vacation hotel or side activities, and is well worth the investment of trying a major purchase before committing to it.

That is the going rate for rentals here in Cal as well. When I bought the Sporty in April my dealer sent me a free rental certificate. Haven't used it yet, but I plan to soon. I will probably rent a Heritage, Road King, or Street Glide.

Down in Tampa my brother rented a Street Glide for a weekend for $300 .( Fri, Sat, Sun) Got it from Tampa HD. If you rent for a day the rates are higher!

What are you riding now?
I went from a Honda 400 to a 1200 Sportser Custom within a few months. I only began riding 4 years ago at the young age of 53. I decided that I "needed" a Heritage Softtail. Went out and bought one without even test riding it. Had butterflies in my stomach. It was so big and soooo expensive.

Man, I didn't realize that one weekend would cost me more than a monthly bike payment... I guess I'll have to forgo the rental idea. $300 is just too damn high for me... I could rent a $40,000 SUV for that!

I don't have a bike and haven't had one in six years. I used to ride crotch rockets... went out and took the MSF class last week, and I plan to order the Heritage while I'm in Iraq next year.

One way, or another, I'm going straight for the bigger bike... you only live once!

Worth every penny if you end up not liking the bike. Wanted a Road King, rented one, hated it, saved me $16K.
