Spring Road Trip 2009

I'm currently planning my spring road trip, I will be departing from Port Angles WA, heading south on the 101. Once I hit Astoria, Oregon I will do the coast line down to the California Border. Can anyone suggest decent places to stay along the route that will offer a good night sleep and local attractions? I will camp some nights in my tent, but I have done 22 yrs in the military and most of that was in the infantry so camping to me now is the Holiday Inn. lol
