if you don't have, go get, or borrow a volt meter. Get an idea of what's what.
Unless you bought it new, someone else could have already fiddled with the wiring.
You can get a cheapie meter for 20 bucks. harbor freight or someplace similar. FInd out what wire is hot under what circumstances, it should all be DC volts.
Good luck
I did buy it new, over 3 years and 40,000 miles ago. I must admit, I have screwed with the wiring in one way or another on several occassions. When I took it to the dealer to have the 95 kit put in, they added the PCIII and removed a Terry Componets Module I had installed staing I had made a "rat's nest" of the wiring. Funny thing was, everything still worked.
Hopefully it is something as simple as a relay from when I wired the ground directly back to the bike.
Well, the two small 3/8 nuts that hold the ignition and starter wires to the main circuit breaker were loose. Once I tightened them up, it worked fine. Rode the bike today and have had several people stop me to ask about it when filling up with gas. Looks like this will be a great year. Now I just have to finish the fab work on the rear fender and struts. Thanks for all the help.
