Default someone should write a "tips from the greybeard" book

I am a relative newbie, and between this forum and one other, I know more "old school" tricks than many of my riding buddies. I am not talking about catalog mods, I am talking about things like:

-using a knife and a few bolts to block off the primary oiler (pre-evo)

-a washer welded onto a 1/4 20 screw in drag pipes to fix torque flat spots

-cigarette paper and a matchbook cover are all the tools you need to set your points

-bandana ties around the front forks to keep from being blinded by rain rides with no front fender

I just wanted to thank all you riders here that share and keep this stuff still going!
One of you "greybeards" here should start a thread on garage fixes to common problems like these (rules: tip must be have been used by riders before 1980 to qualify)...might be an interesting drive down memory lane

It's funny you should say that...I was looking at this thread a little while ago and was ready to put in some stuff and realized I can't remember any of them either. I know that someplace in my deteriorating brain there are a bunch of them. Just have to pull them out.
