Default Why Harley?

We are all obviously Harley guy's, but why?

What did you ride in the past, and why the change to H.D.

FYI, I've had a couple of wings, a shadow, CB 750, rode a Venture and had ton's of dirt bikes, and still own a DT250 (yamaha). My Ultra was a gift from the wife, after a ride at Mt. Rushmore, where the Harley guy's were just way more fun than the Wing nut's. I just couldn't be associated with the wingers anymore. Came over to H.D. after that, and realized that I wasted many good riding years on rice.

Ya know Joe, it's exactly why someone "coined" the phrase...
"if you have to ask, you wouldn't understand."

For me it was a natural progression. Started with a 350 Honda then to a 750 Yamaha then to FLH ElectraGlide. To me there's NOTHING like a Harley. As much as some try to imitate the look or sound they'll never aquire the History.

That's why recently, I bought this Ol' Ironhead. I can say. "Man, I love this thing!"

I understand now, but it took a couple of kicks to the head. I guess I'm a slow learner.

What I can't understand is why someone would want something other than a Harley...

I do know there's a tool for everything.

Great question Scout...

I've owned sooo many bikes over the years. I guess as time passed I became more and more attracted to the Harley design and less attracted to the metric or sport bike design. The Harley's allure is that it's steeped in tradition. Unlike any of my previous bikes, I feel the history come to life as I start her up. I've finally graduated to the ultimate lifestyle, the Harley lifestyle...

Default RE: Why Harley?

I am a newbie and I need an education.

With that being said, what do you mean about "aquiring the history" or "the Harley lifestyle".

I have got my flame suit on.

I am going to buy my first motorcycle and I don't want history or lifestyle. I want reliability and durability and craftmanship. I want a physically tough bike that handles well and is not a money pit.

Is a Harley for me? If it is I want a Screaming Eagle FatBoy.......

Seriously, I want good and honest feedback not a bunch of flame posts.
