In TX you don't have to wear a helmet if you have taken a riders safety course or have 10k worth of some kind of insurance...? forgot what kind but if you google state helmet laws there's lots of good info on a state to state basis. I had the same question a while back and was wonderin about OK, AR, and MO.
Thank you all for your quick answers. Very much appreciated.
According to the link provided by Milwaukee1, I'm good to go in all the States I will be traveling through in regards to insurance, OK State MC Endorsement, etc. Sooo... whatever my helmet/no helmet inclination is at a given time... I'll won't be breaking a State law. Plan to take it... but may strap it on one of the packs during some of the trip. Glad it's up to me and not the law!
I'm going from Arizona to Florida in a couple of weeks, so I looked into those states.
Arizona and New Mexico have no helmet laws for over 18, Texas has a helmet law but if you have a medical insurance card (Cigna, Blue Cross, etc.) you don't have to wear a helmet.
