Hell no. When I purchase a new vehicle and trade the old one in, I do it because I don't want to deal it anymore. I let the dealership know of any work and or upgrades done to it (who wouldn't, you're trying to squeeze every red cent out of them) so they should have all of that information already. If I really gave two $hit$ about who bought my ride after me, then I would sell it myself. I feel that as a consumer, it is your responsibility to look over what you are buying yourself and make a good decision. You should be able to tell if it is a total piece of crap yourself and if it needs a tune up, whoop-dee-freakin-doo, do it yourself or get mad at the dealership who sold it to you for not taking care of that before you bought it. If the dealership says that they don't know anything about the bike there are two possible scenarios... 1) The previous owner didn't know dick about the bike. 2) The dealership is a crap factory and didn't do their part in recording valuable information which is a great sign that you should walk out the front door. After all, that should be their specialty.

Would have no issues contacting previous owner, done respectfully. You can find out all the information you need about your bike, right from the owner himself. What more could you ask for?

No, they have a right to their privacy and it was my choice to buy that bike. I want to know what idiot gave the buyer my phone number if I was the previous owner.

Prior to this year I would have said call and ask what you feel you need to know.

But I have been going thru this now, and the calls are too many and questions that I can't answer (nit picky questions about everything, including looking for receipts for componets).

I reminded the new owner, that he didn't buy the bike from me and contacting the dealer he purchased it from would be best.
