Lowered only the rear on my rkc down to 11.5" with no probs so far, and rides great.

Lowered my EGS with Progressive 440 12" shocks and Progressive front lowering kit for '99s. Do not like the front lowering and think it rides stiff in the front. Hands fatigue sooner from little road shocks. Just my .02c

I lowered the rear only of my '08 EGC with the low profile shocks, same shocks as stock on the Street Glide.

Yep, if you're looking for functional. The 12" Street Glide shocks keep the bike with the stock ride and feel, yet better handling and cornering and the air pump option.

I lowered my RK one inch in the rear and it handled fine. I did notice that I tended to slide back in the seat on long rides but I eventually lowered the front and evened it out.

I used the HD lower shocks from a Street Glide. Works fine even 2 up. I purchased a lowering kit that does it mechanically but it dropped it too far and we bottomed all the time. BTW I have posted the kit over on the classifieds.

I would use one or the other. The mechanical kit is certainly cheaper and will not change the ride much. They are also adjustable as far as ride height and you can still use all the stock shocks.
