Default Stuck in a spot

Ever pull forward into a downhill parking spot and couldn't back up?

I almost did yesterday. Caught it just in time. Oops!

My parking rule of thumb: Tail of the bike DOWNHILL if at all possible. If I have to back in to accomplish, or nose in. Tail of the bike... downhill.

Yep, done that...typical noob thing. I pulled into a space between two cars and realized it just as I had done it. I tried to back the bike up a bit just before I shut it off and realized that I wasn't going to get out by myself. When it came time for me to leave I put on my helmet and gloves and then frapped around the bike for awhile to make it look like I was doing a pre-flight check...did that until the one of the cars next to me left. I jumped on the bike in a flash and turned left into the empty space as far as I could, then backed into mine as a maneouver to turn the bike around. Lesson learned.

I have never tried this with a loaded up touring bike but, block the tires with something (in front not in back). put the bike in neutral. get around in front of the bike . brace your legs and carefully lean into the bike pushing backwards up the hill from in front of the bike. turning slightly as you go till you get it where you can ride it out . set it back down on the kick stand load up and go.

Hard to believe...but, I can't remember ever havin done that. I know I probably did in my youth...but, the span of time since my youth, is much longer than my memory these days.

Yeah, I've done it. Not with the Harley, but still no fun.
