First post here, so hello everyone. I had a question about making my pipes quieter. I see there is a couple of options but one I see that keeps coming up is making your own 'lollipop' baffles. As you can see I want to do it the cheap way. My question is, do these make it noticeably quieter or does it just lower it by a couple of decibels? I'm planning to go on a trip soon and I'm in NYC and I keep reading about how the law is starting to crack down, so I just want to play it safe. Sorry if this is in the wrong spot on the forum.
thinking you might want to post this in the Softail thread....
I have done the lollipop mod on previous bikes...
IMO very little if any volume difference.... was done mainly to add back pressure and pick up a some lost torque from installing drag pipes
are you running the V&H quite baffles in your pipes???
if not might be a good place to start...
Thanks for the replies. I have no problems with loud pipes. I love them. I'm just trying to play it safe. I'll post this in the Softail thread. Thanks.
I had the Quite Baffles in for about a week and just hated them. Way to quite and no one can hear you, it's unsafe. I put back in the stock Vance & Hines and all is well now.
The local leo likes to pull loud bikes over, did it right in front of my house once. Gets out his baton and sticks it in the exhaust, no baffles=ticket. So I made some so that at least his baton wouldn't go in very far, didn't make much difference in noise level.
