Little different scenario than another member reported...
I left home yesterday morning to run an errand, no rush, just taking my time. There is a T-intersection about a half-mile from my home. I was on the main road, and as I approached the intersection a black Ford PU was waiting to pull out from the side road (coming from my right).
Just as I got close to the intersection, that Ford pulled out right in front of me and left-turned into the other lane. Fortunately, I had not accelerated beyond maybe 40 mph at that point. Fortunately, the road was completely dry. And, fortunately, I ride a motorcycle and consider every cage in view as a potential problem -- so I was watching that truck and saw it move and was able to get on the brakes hard.
The cage driver (female) obviously didn't see me until I was almost in her lap (I could see her eyes big as saucers when I got stopped and as she gunned it and drove away).
The most scary/gratifying thing was that I was driving my Chevy Silverado. She didn't see the full size pickup approaching, she certainly would not have seen me on my Softail!
Last Saturday I saw a woman run a stop sign. I meen never touch the brakes. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she was yakking with her friend and just never saw it.
Saturday afternoon I came to a 4 way stop. I stop. Car on my left was stopped first. I wait for him to go. Vehicle from behind me comes up to the left turn lane of the intersection, runs the stop sign and cuts off the vehicle on the left.
Later I'm driving my truck. Put on signal to make a right turn. Car going in opposite direction accelerates to turn left and cuts me off to make the turn first rather than wait 'till I turn.
I can't even remember the 4th incident THAT DAY. It is getting scary how inconsiderate and selfish some divers are.
When you were staring her down, I hope you had the horn blasting.
I hate stupid drivers.
I did have the horn button down hard -- but with the windows up, (probably) the radio blaring, (probably) the cellphone at her ear, she probably never heard it. I was at a local bike night last night and a friend was showing me his new horn -- sounds like a real 18-wheeler. Maybe I'll do that upgrade!
