Who makes the new ones? The newer Harley ones that I have installed does not need the clutch side grip to be glued. If aftermarket you need to glue the new one on. Your old one might have to be cut off. On the throttle side you have to adjust the cables in to loosen them, then once you get inside make sure you do not drop the brass cable ends. They have a way of disappearing never to be found again. It's fairly easy once you get into it, just a little tight working in a small space.

Fairly easy once you get in. The switch housings for both sides will have to come off, throttle side is the trickier of the two. Loosen the cables by adusting in to give you slack, then with a small blade screwdriver there are two brass fittings that are attached on the throttle sleeve underneath the switch housing turn and work out of the groove. Slide out old grip and insert new one with the plastic sleeve, reinsert the cables and secure with the brass fittings, and reverse everything else you just did. The clutch side you might have to cut old grip out or it will slide right out. There is a new design for grips from Harley that do not require glue just make sure the new grip is slid in all way and the switch housing has a channel for the grip to rest in and just put them back on and tighten switch housing. If they are not the new Harley grips you will have to glue the new grip on just make sure you apply glue to the whole length of the grip. Hope this helps, a manual will show you pics.

When putting the switch housings back together, be careful not to pinch any of the wiring. It's an easy way to screw up your turn signals or cruise control. Good luck!

If they are HD Grips, your dealer can print out the instructions for that particular model. Just ask at your parts counter.

I have done this with several HD parts, and never had a problem getting them.

Like others have said..grips are no big deal. My first time changing a set out, took all of 30 min. and I had no clue what I was doing. Just followed instructions.

If they are aftermarket grips of follow this:

The old grip on the clutch side either need to be cut off or just removed from the housing after loosening the housing halves.

I did mine not too long ago. Just go slow when taking things apart. It all goes back together pretty easily. Instructions aren't really necessary

I Just got a set of Harley Ironside grips off Ebay and they are both identical, same 1" hole on both.

I thought one was supposed to be bigger and have the throttle sleeve in it.

It's been awhile since I replaced grips and this time I am using new bars, switches, cables etc.

Looks like with these I am going to have to go to the stealer and get a throttle sleeve unless I am missing something.

I am wondering how it is gonna fit in this hole and on the bars.

Can't remember if the old throttle sleeve is removable.

Can any one set me straight.

Thanks,
