I took my bike out ffor a ride today me and the wife. I seem to have a lot more engine noise since they put the new 25 degree injectors and the new wrong ECM on. What would cause this the bike idled down around 500-700 rpm's before I took it back to get these repairs done and finally shut off I had to keep it reved to stay running until I parked it. I'm just wondering if the motor is hurt or is this normal noise for a HD? This is my first Harley so I'm not real sure how much noise is normal. The noise comes from the front of the motor during aceleration and cruise ing in 3rd and 4th gear it seems to go way down in high gear. Thanks for your input.
Based on what little info I have ,it sounds like its prolly spark knocking.Valve train clattering is possible but that sort of noise would be there pretty much regardless of engine load or rpm.
It's not spark knocking It's more of a metal clacking noise not a pinging spark knock noise. I run high test gas always which doesn't matter I know but this isn't a spark knock sound I'm hearing. It didn't seem to be as loud before the injector and ECM change.
Best thing I can recommend is that you take it back to the stealer that did the work,a simple injector change can only affect A/F ratio, and the ECM controls A/F and timing, which was why I was thinking spark knock or lean knock. But if your sure its not that sort of knock ,the only other thing I would look at is witness marks from exhuast shields possibly rattling or something of that nature,I seriously don't think its anything internal, again BASED on the info I so far,and assuming the engine was fine before the injector/ECM change and the only changes made were the Injectors and ECM.
The bike idled way down for a bit and the timing did it's thing where it retards and all when it got so hot at a bike fest a few weeks back. That is when it started making a funny noise when it was running sort of tinny sounding when reving it to keep it running. I was told the ecm did all that to try and cool itself down. My worry is that the lack of rpms might have let it not get enough oil up to the top of the motor and caused some damage or something like that. It will be going back next week when the correct ECM comes in to get them changed out.

Ahhhhhh this makes more sense ......all bets are off at this point.I would be concerned with the wrong ECM being installed at this point.
