Plenty of videos and tutorials online. I have a link in my files to what I think is one of the best if you decide to go that route.

Guess me and hubby should have looked at the video first. He screwed up my windshield and I had to buy another. From what I hear it CAN be done, and done well. But definitely get the specifics of how-to from someone first!

Yep, that's the video I was referring to. Great soundtrack too. For us old class of 72 guys.

Took mine to a plastics shop and had it done for $20. They did a professional job with nice polished edges. For that price, it wasn't worth the aggravation for me to try to do it myself. I hardly use it though, but do put it on for long trips over 1k miles.

I am surprised no one has tried cutting out the area above the head light and lower the whole shield. It would have to be cut about 2-1/4" higher so that the lower windshield clamps would go below the lower triple tree. I may still give this a try as I think it might cut down on the wind that is getting under the shield now plus getting it low enough for me to see over the top.

I must confess, I haven't actually cut my windscreen down. I have looked at the vid a hundred times. I have all the stuff I need to do it in the garage. I'm chicken.
Afraid to make a crooked cut. So far, the windscreen sits in my garage, waiting it's fate.
So far, I prefer to ride without it. I like the wind and getting whacked in the face with armored bugs. My avatar kind of says it all.

OK Guys; I removed the headlamp ring and head lamp. By doing that I have enough clearance to mount the windshield lower clamps below the lower triple tree, which lowers the whole windshield from 19" above the head light, to 17". Now I will be able to try it out without cutting the windshield when it quits raining. I have about a half mile of sort of sand gravel road to get to the highway from my house, so will let you know how this all works out when it drys up. I am hoping it will keep more of the air from the bottom of the windshield from comming up around the tank and reduce some of the buffeting.

Well! I got the windshield cut to fit around the head light, and put it on the bike for a test run. Made 99% difference. Very little buffeting, and I can see over it about 50' ahead. I now have the bottom clamps up against the bottom of the bottom triple tree. It does take a little more finesse to do it this way, but it does give you more protection down low. I did use a jig saw as per the video. Probably a little harder to cut an inside than an outside like on the top, but it all went well and I have about a 1/4" clearance between the windshield and the head light. So, if you get the standard HD detachable windshield, and it is to tall for you, then you might want to give this a try. I am very happy with it. Before, it about beat me to death.
