I've had the Vista Cruise on a few bikes, just flip the lever with your thumb. Should work with any grips, without modifications).
Works great if your just looking to relax your hand for a minute.
Even thinking about adding one to my Ultra and it has electronic cruise control.
Anyone here uses the cruise control kit from Kaoko.com or the küryakyn mecanical throttle cruise assist?
If yes what grips do you use with the kits stock or other?
Or mayby you know of any other cruise control kits on the market?
SBN...heres a couple links that might interest you. The 2 websites I listed here are the same thing..locking the throttle only to give your hand a bit of rest.
Good luck,
Flip the lever down with your thumb and it holds the throttle.
Flip the lever up with your thumb and it releases.
Yes you can move the throttle (both ways) when it is switched on.
With it engaged you won't have to use much effort to hold the throttle open and you can take your hand completely off the grip for a short time (maybe a minute).
There is an adjustment for how much friction it applies, you set it when you install it. I needed to readjusted one once and it had been on the bike for several years.
Brake Away makes a throttle lock that disengages when you pull the front brake, but it's more expensive (about $200) than the Vista Cruise. It's universal though, and should fit on most anything.
I have a standard size Throttle Boss that matches my ISO grips, which is just sort of a palm extension so you can hold the throttle open with the weight of your hand and stretch out your fingers. It works well, but if I were riding more than a few hundred miles per day on the open road I would definitely want a throttle lock or real cruise control.
Had Vista Cruise on my previous bike, 07 Sportster w/ ISO grip. Used it for about a month, took it off, hated it. I got small hands, right thumb had to reach for turn signal w/ Vista installed. Put in turn signal stick-on extender, decided that the whole setup looks fugly. It's now sitting in my garage somewhere.....
Also had to re-adjust it after 2 weeks, never felt right. Went to star wheel extender, worked a lot better, cleaner look as well.
Got electronic cruise now on my current 08 FLHX, love it.
