I don't know which "north east?" you are referring to... Around here that is 365 /24/7 !! The dining scavengers are a bigger hazard than the critters that ended up as road kill !!

Same thing here in Virginia. Could see bunches of them hanging out by sides of road. Seen a couple of dead ones also.
Yeah,I hit one on june 2 here in good ole upstate NY. Killed the deer and my bike, the insurance company bought the bike. I ended up in the hospital with broken ribs a smashed knee, head truama,a broken eye socket, and a bad case of double vision which the docs say could take up to 6 month's to clear up.This happened at 3:00pm in the afternoon so dont think deer incidents just happen at night. I intend to start shopping for a new bike as soon as I get feeling better.
I had one run cross the road in front of my scoot at mid-morning (about 10am) last week. We need to more hunters to help bring the tick-bearing, plant eating critter population back down to reasonable levels. Also, don't waste any money on "deer whistles", had them on my car when I lived in York, PA, as did most of my coworkers, and it didn't deter any deer from suicide via collision with motor vehicles.
I have deer whistles on mine. SO FAR so good. Have seen many a deer and they seem to go the other way when I come up on them. I have them mounted on the front fender 1 on each side. That dosent mean that I have to quit watching tho. Notice I said SO FAR! One of the keys to deer whistles is to keep them clean. So many people put them on and forget them. They can get plugged up with bugs and dirt.

Oldbagr is right. We need more deer hunters out there. I used to hunt but have to admit, I've become sympathetic to animals as I've gotten older. I'll leave it up to others. Besides, I'm to busy out riding to hunt anymore. Maybe states should extend the seasons a bit longer.

I hunt hard , But areas I see deer in NJ , No hunting areas. The areas that are hunted don't see that many on roads. They are starting to open more land for bowhunting around houses which is good.
