Been using the TEFLON TAPE for years, no issues!!! I use on all drain plugs.

Used to use Rector seal on the plugs,don't use it any more,just tighten to spec

I can't believe people buy a new plug each time they change the oil. That is nothing more than a waste of $$.

I've been using the same plug with nothing on it and it has never leaked. When it does, I'll put a little tape or paste on it and ride on.

I use Loctite PST (pipe sealant with teflon). I also use it it on the crankcase oil plug. BTW, my primary drain has an oring and is not tapered thread...
