Spent the afternoon (and evening) cleaning.

The bike is not done, but I could not resist putting it together to see how it looked. I don't think the bike looks too bad with black fender. Bill can always change it up later.

Pics of the bike a little cleaner than it has been in a long time.

Here is a quick status on the build.

I found that the quick disconnect fuel line is leaking, just getting wet, not dripping - so I will have to change out both the fuel line and the tank fitting (which means opening up the tank again - booooooooooo!).

Still have to get front turn signals, tires, rotors, and brakes.

I will try something to touch-up the derby cover. I can't make it any worse than it is.

I just had this problem and noticed the quick connect fitting on the tank didn't leak when the fuel line was unplugged. That means the O-ring that seals when the fuel line is plugged in was shot. I went to the HD and they gave me one for free, came home and managed to get it in there and leak is gone. I would check that first! If that's the problem I can pass along a great writeup and diagram of the quick connect to help you out.

regards,

Dale

Dale,

Absolutely, please provide me a write-up. I was reading on this last night and wondering if it was possible to change the o-ring. This would be very helpful! Thank you very much!

Also, I found two part numbers for the check valve assembly, 62189-01 and 62189-01A. Do you, or anyone else know the difference or if it matters as to what o-ring I should get. Thank you.

I've got the writeup with the part numbers you need. It lists a couple alternatives too, but I was able to use the harley part number and run down the road and grab the o-ring in 10 mins. Please PM me your email and I'll send you what I got from another forum member here.

Dale

DKYORK was right, that first o-ring was shot. It looked fine, until I touched it with a "glasses screwdriver - then it just started crumbling. I will pick up a new one in the next day or two. Easy fix.

Good info, thanks for the help!

Texts from Bill and me.

On my way home from work the other night, my wife told me that Bill was up and walking on his prosthetic. Being this early, obviously with the assistance of a walker.

So I sent him this:
Keep it up man! The more you push, the easier it will become. We got a couple thousand bikers waiting to see you walk out of that place and ride away. We will work on the bike and have it ready for you. You work on yourself and get ready for the bike. You know of all the support and good wishes. You can do it!

His responsed back was:
"Yeah, it hurt like hell, but I did it!"

That was a pretty short response, but I think I hear something pretty big in it.
