Are Trikes Bikes?

Are Trikes Bikes?
I am not necessarily opposed to them, and I understand that when you get wicked old or injured that it might be better than a car, BUT are trikes motorcycles?
I would think I would but a nice sidecar rig first ... and I know that a sidecar rigged bike is still a bike.
But, dont hurt me, I dont think a trike is a bike.

So if you put one wheel on the side as in sidecar it's still a mc but if you put two on the side as in trike, it's not.

What about a trike with a VW engine in the back or a small V8 or 6 up front with a motorcycle front suspension. A Trike is a Trike with three wheels and a motorcycle is a motorcycle with two wheels. If a trike has a motorcycle engine I am assuming it is still a motorcycle. Hell I don't know.

Years ago, I told a guy that his harley looked like a nice bike. He got all offended and told me, "It's a Motorcycle, not a bike".
On the trike thing...I personally don't like them. They are fine for some, but if and when I get to the point that I can't ride my two wheels, I am going to trade it for a convertible car.
