Go for it. I just got back from Sturgis a couple of weeks ago. I went with my ridding partner. We got along pretty good, but I know I would have had more fun solo. When he wouldn’t pull over in a torrential down pour outside of Deadwood to put on our rain gear (he ain’t got none) and wait out the storm, made me realize I’d be happier riding solo. I might be a little lonely walking around Sturgis, but I found folks and specially the bar maids to be very friendly. And I know if I camped out next time, I surely would meet lots of great folks.

The one thing I might do from a safety standpoint if I go solo next year, is to stay on the Interstate to better ensure cell phone service. I prefer to take the back roads, but then cell service can be spotty at times in case you break down.

I sort of like the solo thing, cause if one of my buddies bikes go down, it always becomes my problem to figure out what to do. So, the way I figure it, if I ride with three others, I have four times the chance of having a break down to deal with than if I went alone.
