Default When does the Dealer Know

Does anyone have any knowledge on when the dealer gets information on when an ordered bike will be shipped?

I ordered a 2006 Peace Officer Road King on March 30th. I called a couple of weeks ago and my salesman says he doesn't have any info yet.

I would think that the factory would be switching over to 2007 models soon.

Really just wanting to see if the salesman is giving me the correct info.

That's how they should set your expectations.

The dealer knows as soon as your VIN is assigned when it will be shipping.

This dealer was smart and promised you nothing. Now its here and you are happy because you weren't expecting it yet.

Enjoy!

Guess it doesn't make a lot of difference now that you know yours is in, but FWIW: I ordered an Ultra in March of '05. While I was sitting in my Terry's (my sales person) cube, she got on the computer, told me within a week the day it would be manufactured, the day it would ship, and the day it should arrive. As it turns out, she was within a day of manufacture and ship dates and two days off on the arrival date. The thing that really got me PO'ed was that it took the dealer 3 weeks to open the box, bolt on the windshield and tourpak so I could pick it up.

I'm glad you've almost got yours. Of course with all that said, the Peace Officer may be a special run and that info may not be as available as it was for mine.

Your dealer must read the HDF and saw your post and realized he better call.
