So back in the middle of Oct. I placed a down payment on a new '14 Utra with the 6.5 boom. Dealer had none in stock in the color (candy orange) I wanted and said he could not find another dealer with one that would let him have it so he would order from the factory. Now when I call to ask if they have a projected ship date he says it to early for that. Dealer has always done right by me in the past and given me the best deal. Is this normal? I would think by now the factory would be able to give that info, after all don't they know when the line is running?
Knew it would not be quick, but would love a time frame.
I have only ordered 1 Harley and after putting a downpayment was only givien a ballpark date for delivery. I was told there are 4 waves and my July order would not be built until March of the vehicle year. Ultimately the new bike came in April, seemed like forever but in the end it was worth it. Wait for it....
Years ago I run into this with a bike I ordered. After 4 months and multiply trips to the dealer; the last with the position of I'm either leaving here with a ship date, or my money back by whatever means necessary. He wisely called and was told they were not spraying that color now, but when they did mine was early in line. 6 weeks after that my bike arrived at the dealer!
I just found out the build and ship date on mine the other day. Build on 7 January and ship on the 11th. Since I will be away Im getting a few mods done so I wont see her till 1 March... also happens to be my birthday, fancy that LOL
I got lucky. A few weeks ago I called my dealer and told them I wanted a 14 candy orange ultra with a 6.5 boom. Two days later they told me they found one at a dealer about 100 miles away and two days after that they had it. I waited for them to put on heated grips and a tourpack rack and then it was mine.
I ordered an Ultra Limited peace officer special edition in blue and it was 4 weeks from the time i ordered it until it shipped. I was told the special editions went to build much quicker than the others and it worked out that way.
