WILSONVILLE, Ore. -- A group of more than two dozens motorcycles crashed on Interstate 5 Friday afternoon, seriously injuring two people and hurting at least eight more.
The crash closed all northbound lanes of I-5 south of Wilsonville until 4 p.m. Traffic is slow but getting through in one lane as of 4:20 p.m.
Early reports indicate a group of at least 26 motorcyclists were northbound on I-5 around 2:45 p.m. behind a passenger car when traffic ahead began to slow. The car and motorcycles collided, also hitting an adjacent vehicle.
Two motorcyclists were taken from the scene by air ambulance with critical injuries. Eight others were transported by ground ambulance.
Traffic was being detoured onto OR 551 from Exit 278 (Aurora Donald Exit) and back onto I-5.
A single lane has been opened to clear vehicles behind the closure point. A police investigation may keep northbound lanes closed for a prolonged period.
Sorry to hear about the guys who got hurt. Someone's formation was perhaps a little tight or a little fast...
26 bikes - what a nightmare...
I have ridden with Brother Speed MC. Every time they ride they earn their title! They ride fast and tight. Good MC started many years ago centered around racing. Better have a fast bike to Prospect with them! I am not, nor never have been a member of Brother Speed MC.
