Practical? Prolly not. About as practical as all the chrome doo-dads and fringe and other chit we bikers love to put on our bikes.
Useless in the scheme of things? Nope. Can't ever imagine a LEO Drill Team chasin down bad guys in some sort of formation. But I'll bet those guys can ride better than 99% of us due to their countless hours of training.
Cool as hell to watch highly trained specialists show off their craft? Hell yes!

Re: Useless. I guess I'm not as good at communication as I used to be. I was refering to the other posters opinion...Not the Drill team. I love watching those guys and feel that being on a drill team helps them in the performance of their job.
