Im getting over reconstructive shoulder surgery.. I can't ride, can't shoot, can't work my dogs.. no fun at all. So, this past saturday my wife surprised me with a trip over to York for the open house. We took the factory tour, and got to talk with some of the employees. We also go to check out some of the 2010's. We took a close look at the new wide glide, the ultra limited, the fat boy low, a new xr1200 and a cvo softtail convertible. My arm is in a sling for another month at least, so I couldn't demo anything, but it was still damn good to get out of the house. Bottom line is, we had good day, I enjoyed the tour, had some nice conversations with some of the people who work there, and it was cool to check out the new bikes. The other thing is, with all the speculation about the York plant's future, I'm glad we got to see it. My hope is that York stays open but I guess only time will tell.

Hope you heal up quick, the snow seasons coming. I wanted to get up there myself for the open house as I have never been there, and it's real close by. Hopefully they keep it open so I can make it next year.
I actually asked one of the staff about the factory rumor.
He said it's a pretty solid rumor, but we should know more in about a month.
I didn't test drive anything, I'm on my first bike (Iron) and I don't want to get tempted to trade mine in.
But I did the factory tour and it was great.
However, the best time I had was riding around the backroads.
I rode around the back roads east of York for about 2 and a half hours.
The roads were perfect, there was no traffic, it was like 65deg outside with the sun shining.
Some of the hills were like roller coasters and the curves were great.
Accidentally let out a "WOAH!" a few times.
I put a new Mustang seat on right before I left and it made a HUGE difference.

Mavrick,
That was very nice of your wife and I'm glad you had a good time. Three of us rode up in the rain Friday out of North Carolina and we made it to Chambersburg for the night. The ride over early Saturday was really pretty. This was my first time to the factory and I was very impressed with the entire operation. The folks were very friendly and they seemed optimistic they would be able to keep the plant there. I sure hope it works out for all of them. We went to Gettysburg after the plant tour and rode around the entire battle field and stopped at the large monuments all in the rain again. Then we also hit some small two lane back roads that dumped up back into I-81 south of Hagerstown and made it back to Woodstock, VA before the rain got the best of us. The ride back home yesterday morning could not have been nicer and we all were very thankful for dry highways finally.
It was sure worth it and I look forward to taking the wife back up there soon.
Maverick, I got to do a little demo riding on Thursday and the Fatboy Low was one of the most comfy rides I had a chance to get on. It sits low enough that even my feet were flat on the ground, ran like a champ. That was only second to the CVO Softy Convertible that I rode also. Now that bike has a nice running engine. The rest of the day was spent waiting in line for a 2010 Road King, which would not make me give up my 2004 RK and a ride on a v-rod, okay but not my preference. I don't appreciate having to get in crotch rocket crouch to ride.
I new it was time to go when I was told there was a 2 hr. wait for a Tri-Glide. Would have liked to take that out just for the hell of it, but not worth a 2 hrs. wait in my opinion.
Thanks everyone.. your thoughts are very much apperciated !! and oh yea, I was bummed not being able to demo the CVO convertible.. I can't afford one at the moment.. but it's on my wish list anyway.. Glad y'all had a good time
Cheers

Made the trip also on Saturday. Was looking forward to riding there but weather sort of put us in the cage. As usual, enjoyed the tour, but usually have gone on thursday which is better as more of the line is working.
