I prefer the carb. The bling is just bonus that you won't have to spend money on. When I bought mine I was put off at first by the bike having 18k miles on it. I realized quickly that 18k was nothing for a bike that is well taken care of. I've got friends with over 100k on thier rides and still going.

Just my .02 though.

I'm currently looking at 2 different heritage softails on ebay. Which would you choose?

#1. 2001 14,000 miles, carburator, excellent condition, lots of "bling"

#2. 2004 10,000 miles, fuel injected, excellent condition, minimal "bling", stage 1

Both bikes will sell for $14K. Both "look" comparable, although #1 has more chrome.
Is there a difference in the 2001 and 2004 engines (other than FI)?
Will the 4K extra miles hurt?
I suppose #2 is worth more because it is 3 yrs newer and has fewer miles although #1 has a little more "bling"?

Do you prefer the carburator or FI?

PLEASE HELP!!!!
I would wait, and get a new one. And make it your own. My .02

I like the carb - but given the price and the fact that new is so easy to buy
go new and put your own stuff on it I chose the softail standard because it had the least stuff on it
now have 22thou miles on it and almost all the stuff I want

I prefer carb. but that is your decision. Just be carefull with buying a Harley on ebay. There are a lot of scams on there with Harley's.

Hell man, just grab the check book and walk into your friendly neighborhood stealer look around,
if the fever is hot enuff , as was in my case. No more dilema. Hell my wife has made the harley store off limits to me. For some odd reason I can't seem to walk in to just look , I usually spend around 400 hundred a pop...oh ya and take a friend who's into Harley's a good cheering section is always good to make ya get off an extra 100 bux or so.
