Default vent for primary??

Just wondering if anyone knows of a vent available for your primary? My plug on the front of the motor coming frome the stator keeps leaking. I put some gasket sealer on it about a year ago and now its leaking around the sealer. I just got done re-sealing it this morning. I think it may be building up pressure inside. My fluid level is correct. Its a 2000 model twin cam.
Any help would be great.

There should be O-Rings on the plug that fits thru the engine case...Replace those and see how it works.

primary/chaincase housing need not and should not be vented. zero pressure in primary case,UNLESS your seal on the left motor side is allowing motor oil to leak into primary. otherwise just replace stator and all is well. is that warranty?

Primary chaincases are vented, through the hollow transmission mainshaft.

I don't see how it's vented thru the shaft. The bolt that adjusts the clutch pack threads into that shaft blocking the "hollow". There's no need to vent it as there's nothing to pressurize it.

They leak sometimes at the plug. You can buy time with the sealer (clean real well first with brakeclean), but ultamately a new stator will be in your future. Vent not needed, and if crankcase seal is causing pressure in the primary, oil would be leaking into the primary. Your fluid level is good (you said) so you likely have no crankcase pressure problems.

Without a vent there is no way for moisture to be expelled, the expansion and contraction of the lube as it heats and cools make it necessary to vent.

Why do you think the gearbox is vented, nothing pressurizes that either?

I`m guessing you haven`t disassembled a transmission.

There is no bolt threaded into the end of the transmission mainshaft.

The adjuster threads into the clutch release plate.

Actually, I just had my inner primary off. I looked back at my photos and the manual, and I stand corrected. The shaft is not threaded, the push rod runs thru it and pushes on the screw that threads into the release plate as you correctly stated.

See that? The more I keep coming here the more I learn!

I don't understand why I would need a new stator. It's been about a year since I sealed it the first time. Haven't had any charging problems. I changed the stator on my old bike ( and Evo) and it wasn't fun. Don't want to go that route unless I for sure have too.
