For those that live in a big city, where do you park your bike when not home? Like if you go to work with it, do you park your bike in between two cars or on the sidewalk if this one is big enough not to bother pedestrians?

There are parking spots specifically designed for motorcycles in DC but there are not a lot of them...
I secure nuclear power stations for a living, so our sense of what's "a lot of security" probably differs.

Seriously, this being my first Harley I'm really overwhelmed at how attached I am to the thing. Even if I knew I'd get full replacement value for it and everything I've done to it, I'll be some pi$$ed if someone messes with it. Do the best you can securing it, get good insurance, keep your bills for any improvements and always have some current pics of it in its most recently improved state.

Hey guys, reviving my own thread here.

I am soon going to buy my first HD and I was concerned about how easy/hard it is to park a bike in a city? I live in D.C. and work in D.C. and will be using my bike for my short commute most of the time of course What would you recommend doing?

Many thanks in advance!

is there a garage on site anywhere voony?

get your bike INSIDE under lock and key.

there's no good way to leave your bike outside, plain and simple.

reading back thru the thread you say your landlord has a garage.

offer to clean it out for him and then offer to pay an extra 50 a month in rent.

if he's hesitant, tell him the bike is your only means of transportation so with no bike, there's no work, and with no work, there's no check for him on the first of the month.

It turns out my landlord rides also and he said "Put that Harley in the garage" :-) So that's one problem resolved lol. Then I am just worried parking it during the day when I go to work. I read somewhere that it's ok to park it between two cars where there is a meter or just right outside that parking zone, and that cops won't tow it anyway because they wouldn't like to damage it.

I work in a pretty busy part of the city. Too bad we can't park on the sidewalks because there are huge ones across the streets.

DC has Mopad parked on the sidewalk everywhere. I do deliveries and sometime will do the same thing for short stops.
