Default legendary leathers

i finally saved up my pennies and got a legendary black stallion jacket. the stitching and zippers are flawless. this thing was spendy, but i saved a little bit on it- it was on sale. VERY heavy horse hide. it will take me a little while to break it in- the hide is stiffer than a preacher's dick. but after a week the arms have already started to loosen up a bit. the collar will take a while. the hide itself is insanely well matched. just a very high quality jacket. i have seen the fox creek threads and just thought i would throw this out there if anyone was considering this particular jacket.

the site is expensive, even their schott jackets are $100 more than i paid for mine, even more than that with shipping.

the horeshide jacket does look awesome though, really sturdy. i always felt weird about horsehide though do they kill the horses for their hides? how do they get the leather? at the end of the day you didn't pay that much really and if you get a ton of use out of it and love it it's worth it.

enjoy it.

Horses are not killed for their skin. However, they DO eventually die.
And I know of no place that has new Schott jackets cheaper than Legendary. Schott does make all their jackets, including the Black Stallion.
I think AIJKT code gets ten percent off. And if you have an old Legendary or Perfecto they'll take it on trade for $75 off.

the price for that schott on legends is msrp nearly $500, that's full retail most army/navy stores that carry the schott perfecto 118 you can find on schott's website as dealers will sell them cheaper in store, two i visited had them quite a bit lower. i paid $400 even for my perfecto after everything brand new with tags from the factory, they're also listed as a schott dealer on schott's own site.

as for the horses i know they do die i just didn't know if some were slaughtered or put down for their hides. i like horses a lot, it's kinda like me wearing a dog. they do look nice and sturdy though.

Interesting. Unfortunately, I know of no place with hundreds of miles of where I live in flyover country that carries Schott leathers. And the surplus stores on the web don't seem to discount them. I'm always on the verge of buying a 613.

Somethin wrong with wearin dog? If I were to go thru another season of storms like the 04-05 hurricane seasons, and had to spend more than the 8 months with no roof, and the first two weeks without anything like we did then, the neighbors best watch out for their pets. I don't do hungry very well...

We have a Horse meat processing plant close to where I live, they export it to Europe and Japan.
