I'm not so sure that Sears is what everyone claims anymore. I took a stripped ratchet handle in last year, expecting a new one off the wall. Instead, they made me fill out a form and then pulled a rebuilt one out of a drawer. Told me that they don't give out new ones now. Rebuild had some sort of Asian sticker (Thailand or Korea) on it. Lisle brand is not Craftsman (I think they are made in Canada) and may not carry the same no questions asked lifetime warranty from Sears.
I agree, I went to 5 different stores to exchange a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter. None on the shelf, can't exchange it, try a different store.
At the 5th store I complained, they finally took one out of a set and exchanged it.
With ratchets they used to replace the guts, or give me new guts. I have a few that aren't working right (they slip or don't change direction easily). I guess I should try and see what happens when I take them in.
IMO their quality is down, I won't even look at their power tools.
For inexpensive tools with lifetime warranty I'm starting to get Pittsburgh tools from Harbor Freight.
Anybody used the gearwrench sets they have on sale right now for $59 bux? They're the black ones thats about all i know wife chased me outta there! Snap On brand about $40 per wrench ,, these were a 5 pc set I think,,, coulda been 7. I woulda bought em but I have never used them ,, figured Id wait on a report than go ****** them up.
Actually i remember now why i didnt buy them on site,, the open end had a little black "tooth" looking deal in it,,, wasnt sure what that was all about? Anybody know?
My gear wrenches got used A LOT. Very good investment if you do a lot of wrenching. Especially good if you don't have a lot of room to get a new bite on a nut.
