Default Removing fuel tank

I want to change out my flush mount fuel gauge & cap because they suck.

I don't have a manual so can someone tell me the trick for getting to the plug to remove the gauge?

I don't want to pay the dealer to do this.

Thanks

Push down on the gauge and turn/twist counter clockwise at the same time and she pops right out

But how about getting to the plug under the tank? I know the wires feed through a tube in the tank then to a plug somewhere

Basically you have to cut the connector off under the tank, as close to the connector as possible. You'll have to get another connector and the connector pins from the dealership when you put in your old gas gauge. Strip the wires before you feed them through the tube in the tank. Then you will have to crimp the connector pins to the wires and then insert in the connector making sure the correct color wires are in the right spot in the connector.

I've found the easiest way to do this is to drain your gas tank and remove it so you can do the work on a work bench with a towel underneath the gas tank so not to scratch it.
