Is there a difference in the early and later twin cam engines? I have a 2001 dyna with carb, can a 1999 with FI work if a need it? Will the carb set up fit on the 99 engine? terry

Go for it! But let me have yer '01 when ya pull it out...

Most riders don't know that harleys were built to be rebuilt, in a small shop out back with a hand full of tools usually found layin around the garage. At least up till they introduced the electronic ignition. The technology behind the engine and tranny remains just as simple, even though it has become more reliable over the years.

Should work no problem. make sure the cam bearings were replaced in the 99 though.

There's nothing wrong with engine in the bike now, just could buy the 99 engine and tranny real cheap, only has 5000 miles on it. Terry

Yes itll work and yes there are major internall differences between 99-01&02-06&07-10,but its all internal, and all part are interchagable.Personally the early twinkies are the best.
