So, I take delivery of my FXCW in April, and Id like to customize it a little. Some things I can do myself, easily. One of them is the chopping down of the rear fender. Its too long for my liking, and that plate is f'ugly. So here is my question....
Iv herd rules that restrict me from chopping back the rear fender. Is this true?
Also.. The relocation of my Plate to a side mounted frame. the frame will be lit, and It will be located as low as possible just to the rear of my seat.
Last one is BCT Baffels... I like my Harleys obnoxious, and to sound like they are about to stall. I want the low, loud rumble and pop of the big radius 2-2's/BCT combo.
Is this going to get me ticketed? Or will I most likly get A LOT of warnings?
Im in the military up in Valcartier, and Iv seen quite a few boys with some nice bikes, but nothing as wild as what I want.
cant help you with you plate relocation quetion, but since i also live in Quebec, i can tell you thta the leo's are really clamping down on pipes. if you want to be obnoxious you will get ticketed for sure. I am not sure if you are aware of the rates of the plates for 2010, you will be paying around $620.00 this year.
in Quebec when you deside to have a loud exhaust you have to accept the risk of ticket (163$ I think), or keep the stock one.
I Have suppertrap 2in1 no end cap and, it's loud and noisy but it's my decision,So I will take the blame if they give me a ticket,
regarding your plate relocation, I have a few friend with this mod and they never have
problem with the cops.
I accept the fact that it will be loud, and the fact that I may get a ticket for it. Im not so worried about that pipes, It was the chopping of the rear fender, and moving the plate down and to the side. Also, relocating my signals as well lower and less obtrusive.
Your best source of hard information on provincial regulations is the guys that write them. Most everything anyone says on an internet forum is either a "best guess", or based on a specific situation they were in, or simple speculation. You should be able to search for your Provincial highways regulations online through the Province's website.
Ticketing for ANYTHING is very much up to the Police Officer doing the stop. They have a lot of discretion, and it often comes down to two basic elements; are you polite and respectful, or are you acting like a jerk, and what is that individual Cop's tolerance for whatever it is he stopped you about.
You'll find some cops have a zero tolerance for speeding. Others for signaling lane changes, still others that just don't like loud obnoxious pipes, or Harleys in general. THAT is usually when your attitude comes into play. you have no way of knowing whether the Cop who stopped you absolutely HATES loud pipes, or if he rides the same bike as you do. Common sense and good attitude make a world of difference, almost always
+1 with Dragan. I live in Gatineau, Quebec and as far as I know there is no problem with plate relocation, but loud pipes are anothing thing. If you can afford the tickets I say go for it...

Okay, a noise violation isnt going to fudge up my insurance. So Im not too worried about it. Plate relocation... Im glad about that. now just to do some research about chopping the fender back.
