My Son is stopping his RG in the middle of an intersection to make a left turn and tries to put his left foot down.....
Pant leg is stuck on heel shifter. Yup...falls over. No damage to bike. Not hurt. He said that was the most helpless feeling he has ever experienced. LOL. And, the most embarrassing moment of his life.
For me, that area where the heel shifter 'used to be' is real estate for my boot.
Mine didn't last very long. I never got hung up on it but it doesn't allow for much alteration in foot placement when you are on the bike for hours at a time. I had thought about getting an extended one but like the above poster mentioned I never used it either so why go through the expense?
I Like my heel shifter cause it saves wear on the toe of my boots. I put an extended heel shifter on my bike and have the whole board for my big size 14 but still easy to use the shifter. Bought it on ebay for about 1/3 of what CCI gets for em.
Some never use it anyway.. Never had floorboards before this one and only use the heel shifter when riding with flat sole shoes which is not often.
Removed it last yr as it does offer better left foot comfort for me also.
I did the same thing a few years ago, caught my pant leg on the shifter.I fell over (luckily I was in my drive way) and no one seen me.I did how ever break a mirror.I know 7 yrs. bad luck.Anyway, I took the heel shifter off.I'd rather scuff my boot up than fall over again.
