Okay, I take my stock exhaust off while I'm waiting for my new exhuast to come in from Fuelmoto. I get the service manual so I will have the torque settings when I put the new pipes on...When I looked in the manual in the R/R it states to remove the gasket that goes from the exhaust to the head. I'm use to working on cars...I didn't see a gasket, is it compressed into the head? if so is there a trick to get it out? or was there no gasket? I don't want to jus start scratching things up to see if there is a gasket in the head.
There is a gasket in there. You can use a little tiny screw driver to pick it out. I use a machinist pick. They are mesh steel and hard to see because they contour to the port to prevent leaking. Good luck.
Exhaust gasket will be in the port. I recommend the stock gasket over the screaming eagle gasket. The SE gasket sometimes does not seal the first time. Some people have luck with them, some don't. JMHO.
Sorry for the double post. I also recommend taking great care not to strip or cross thread the exhaust studs when you put the pipes back on. Consider getting a new set of exhaust stud bolts - they are cheap at the parts counter - and use anti-sieze before you put them on. Stripping or breaking these exhaust studs will be a nightmare.
If you have trouble inserting the new gaskets then spray them with WD-40. I read this in another post, tried it, and it works.
WOW...great help...thanks...I guess I will try a dental pick or something...I just bought two new gaskets from HD at $8.95 a piece. Yes the gaskets are pressed in the head and you wouldn't know they were there unless u knew they were there (?). Thanks for the help I will keep you all updated...should have my new exhaust in tomorrow.

I used a little grease on the outside of the new gaskets to help pop them back into place. At first you might think that the new gaskets are too big to fit.
It takes some patience to get them seated.
You have to be careful not to distort them while you are pushing them into place.
I used some needle nose pliers to pull out the old gaskets.
