As I had said in earlier threads: it just amazes me how quickly folks can ruin the lives of others from the comfort of their home on the internet!
"Lock her up!" "Throw away the key" "She ain't my daughter!".

Judges are paid to make decisions. They are trained for that.

I am so grateful they don't let internet commandos make these decisions! He he!
A few of you guys are so full of chit it is unbelievable.

from the sounds of it you might be related to the ****ing judge

Compenency takes time to aquire.

If you were competent, you'd know that.
and yet we seem to be able to give licenses to incompetent people....

"18 year old kids ain't supposed to be the most "competent" people in the world".

maybe the driving age ought to be raise to an age where they can prove competency...wow...what a concept

Default Sorry for your loss

I too am sorry for your loss of a friend and hope that his family gets plenty of support at their time of grief.

My wife & I are in the lucky ones category - last year when rear-ended in broad daylight on my WHITE 08 SG at a stop sign by a truck rolling forward at about 5 mph (said his foot slipped off pedal) with cross traffic traveling at 60+mph.

I had a split second for decisions - hit kill switch - lockup front/rear brakes - prepare for impact from rear.

After a front wheel bike stand, wife launched 10 feet to right of bike and me partially pinned under bike (didn't get pushed into traffic - Thank you UPSTAIRS) - driver unlicensed - cited and walked to get uncle to pick up truck while I talked with CHP.

We were able to ride the bike home the 30 miles after stopping down the road to access any injuries under the riding gear. Soreness and a few scrapes was all.

$1,800 in damage to bike - We were okay thanks to riding gear & helmets. My insurance footed the bill. Never heard anything on driver - heard he skipped the state though.

I am not happy about what happened to me & the wife - we still ride and enjoy riding. I do watch my rear still -

I did want to tell you about what I saw recently in the past 2 months on a stretch of highway that lots of riders use daily.

There have been many accidents involving m/c on this stretch - some m/c fault - some cager fault

I travel the Highway 101 corridor in Santa Clara County, CA. several times a month, both in a cage and by motorcycle.

The "alert" billboards that also advise of traffic conditions also "posts" the following message.

"SHARE THE ROAD RESPONSIBLY - WATCH OUT FOR MOTORCYCLISTS"

It helps remind people to be alert.

What I have noticed is, every so often, motorcyclists don't always watch for cars and the results can be deadly.

As cage drivers we need less distractions - as m/c riders we need to be alert to those cagers that have distractions.

We all have heard horror stories regarding swayed justice being handed down but each is different as is each incident of an accident.

We can make a difference by being aware that as m/c riders we make up a small picture of what a cager sees.

Make yourself visible and drive defensively. Hopefully that will be a saving grace.

Sorry to ramble

When any person gets behind the wheel or on a bike the have certain responsibilities and risks. It is NOT an accident, it is neglect for the responsibility you issued a drivers license for.

I am sorry for the loss of your friend and I feel more sorry to know how little the courts think of the Biker. If this would have been a Drunk Driver MADD would have been in there playing up the media and seeing how with all the organizations we have I think it is time to start pushing the organizations that we (some of us) belong to into doing more. Many times we have to stop talking and start doing !

Judges like money too. Simpson didn't have money anymore so he went to prison. This is what friend lawyer told me. Judges and lawyers go to the same country club to play golf. Well, they have a lot of time to talk and deal. I had a girlfriend prosecutor, she said that prosecutors can open or close case, so criminals don't even see judge.

We have known for some time now that driving while talking on a cell phone is as risky as driving while intoxicated. The question is what must be done to get it to stop. Lesser means, such as public service messages and billboards, are not doing the job. If it takes mandatory jail time, regardless of the age of the offender, to get the message across, then so be it.

Amen. First of all, sorry for the loss. Even more so, pissed at the BS sentencing. Being young is not a license to kill and then claim "incompetence" or "oopsie". You get behind the wheel, you take on the responsibility that entails or you walk. As one who has a 19 year old out of the house and a 15 year old straining at the bit to get her learner's permit, that's exactly the speech I've given. You want the privilege of driving, you also take the responsibility.

At least until it happens to you.

"Never an accident" "It's always neglect".
"No such thing as an accident". He he!
"I am perfect" "My kid never screws up".

Bwahahahahaha!

And you'd quickly suggest sending your own kids to prison after a wreck?????

Is that what you are saying??????
