Faast Ed, I think you're misunderstanding bsea. He was not saying to send a kid to prison just because the kid had a wreck. Rather, he was agreeing with my point that something has to be done to impress upon people the riskiness of driving while talking on a cell phone. I would regretfully tell my children exactly what bsea is telling his.
News Alert people, the world is a dangerous place. People die everyday, sometimes their fault, sometimes to no fault of their own. I live everyday as if it is my last. I roll over in the morning, no matter what and get a piece (yes 7 days a week. I'm no porno stud, but the best two minutes of her day . So she says). I always make sure I have a good meal and if I'm not at work and the sun is out, F it, I ride. Im done reading this tread, I'm moving on!

There is not one person on this planet, that don't think something needs to be done to keep folks from textiing and phoning while driving.
But there are several on this thread that want to send non drinking 18 year kids to prison for a traffic accident.
A lil 18 year old girl should go to jail for being stupid, and share a cell with the crack addict who robs people with guns? Lemme see here, maybe she'll learn from her cell mates and contribute to crime when she gets out?
As I had said in earlier threads: it just amazes me how quickly folks can ruin the lives of others from the comfort of their home on the internet!
"Lock her up!" "Throw away the key" "She ain't my daughter!".
Judges are paid to make decisions. They are trained for that.
I am so grateful they don't let internet commandos make these decisions! He he!
A few of you guys are so full of chit it is unbelievable.
FaastEd.....Slow down a little bit will ya. Re read my post I never even suggested a punishment!.....where did you get a prison cell with a crack addict from? I did say she should be held responsible. Think she would have passed her drivers test if she pulled out her cell phone while driving?
And you'd quickly suggest sending your own kids to prison after a wreck?????
I taught my kids about personal responsibility and consequences to their actions and choices. I would not be happy if my kids made a bad choice or took action which landed them in prison... but I wouldn't want them to NOT face those consequences if the deserved them. For *some* people, but certainly not all, *knowing* there will be severe consequences is enough to change their behavior.
and yet we seem to be able to give licenses to incompetent people....
"18 year old kids ain't supposed to be the most "competent" people in the world".
maybe the driving age ought to be raise to an age where they can prove competency...wow...what a concept
I'm not sure by your post who's side you are on....I agree with you, we do give licenses to people who are not responsible enough to handle it....some kill innocent people. I am also not sure what you mean by 18 year old kid, at that age they are legally adults, and can be charged as such in a crime. I bet insurance companies agree with you about raising the driving age.

the "18 year old kid" quote was faast ed's
and I agree with you Tech23 and Midnitevil......she needs a harsher penalty..one that will really sink in...not only with her but with everyone who hears about this.....you drive irresponsibly and kill someone.....you'll pay the piper.

I raised the driving age myself. My kids thought turning 16 was an automatic ticket to getting their license. Not in my house it wasn't. My oldest daughter didn't get a license until she was 20. My youngest daughter got hers when she was 18.

My daughter just turned 19 and just got her learners license. the last time I took her out driving she was, in my opinion, not being serious enough about the responsibility that goes with the license. well needless to say we stopped for a bit that day and I had a good long talk with her.
and to those who whine that I wouldn't say this **** if it were MY kid...well got news for you.....I would and my daughter got that lecture too that day.
