all the big rallies I have been to seem to be like that. How many pairs of $49 chaps can one guy wear?!?!? But I also find that you can still find places to have a blast if you get off the beaten path.
Yea when the wife and I go to the rallies anymore we spend more time on the bike cruising around taking in the sights. Most people only see the vendors or the bars which is great, But there is so much to see if you just spend some time behind the bars.
That's why I have no interest in going to Bike Week. Sturgis is commercial as hell also, but there you can get away from all of that and see the spectacular sights. And although Florida's got some good riding, I'm not willing to deal with all of the B.S. there just to take in some "pretty good" sights.
Last year was the same old thing as well. This year we are planning a ride tomount Dora. Still alot of flat roads but a niceplace to visit when the congestion moves in to Daytona. I might even venture out to Orlando this year.
I was there for the first time and just got back. I had a lot of fun and am already planning on going back. I'm in Minnesota and loved even a little riding to get me warmed up for spring. No need to visit every hot leathers tent, they're all pretty much the same.

Bikers go to the big rallies for many reasons, but I am certain if there were no vendors at these things the bitching by the majority of people would be overwhelming.

I hear ya brother! If you've seen one TShirt, Chaps, Pin, Tattoo joint you've seen, well, a hundred of them!
I always make the rounds in Daytona, Main Street. Meander around the back roads, eat like a starvin' Haitian (damn, I'm going to hell for saying that now).
Ormond Beach, up to Flagler Beach, the Hammock is a good ride.
Seminole County, Lake County, awesome freaking riding.
