How do you protected your chrome from wrench or socket damage ?

I use stainless steel hardware, and then I don't have to worry about it.
You can use masking tape if it worries you that much. There are also socket sets that are non-marring, but they cost eleventy-seven dollars!

I have not added any chrome fasteners to my bike so I am no help. I do not plan on adding any either, only using high quality fasteners that are not chrome or stainless.
