Default Cornering stability a tire problem? 1998 Fatboy

I have only been riding for six months, but have recently been feeling like the front end is not going to make a solid grip in corners. It almost feels like there is a little bit of "wiggle" in the front tire and makes me feel like the front tire would slide out if i pushed it too hard. I checked the tire pressure and am sitting at about 38 psi. I am currently running Avon tires, with an unknown number of miles on them. Any ideas what might be causing this problem? Has anyone out there experienced a similar feeling and corrected it with a different set of tires? Do different sets of tires have dramatically different feels to people, or just slightly different? thanks for any insight you might have.

Does the steering feel heavy as you go into a turn? If yes then the nut on the top of the triple clamp may be loose. Tighten it. If that's not it, tires are not as expensive as a wreck.

If you have aftermarket spoke wheels, check em.When the spokes are loose on the rear wheel it will cause a front end wobble.

look up how to read a tire's age, and see how old the tires are. Replace them if over 5 years.
Go to AVON Tyres web site, and look up your model, and make sure 38 PSI is proper for yout tire...
Check the spokes (if you have any)
Check the neck, and wheel bearings

YES.... different brands of tires, and even different models within the same brand "feel" different.
Miles on tires are just ONE piece of information. Age is another matter.
Pretty much ANY new tire, will feel better than an old one

I'm feeling the same with my norrow night train front tire. but if nothing mechanically wrong then i guess it is only a feeling or a physiological thing.
im in the process of installing wider wheel & tire, putting heavier fork oil and replacing the spring. hoping ill have more stability or at least better feeling !!

Check the alignment. I use 8' florescent tubes, it's quick and easy.

I would think 38 PSI is good for the rear tire. But sound a little high on the front tire. I like a little lower pressure in the front for better grip check your manual for right pressure.

Could be a bearing issue too. How does it do in straight line riding?

When I bought my Dyna it had these custom wheels among other cosmetic "upgrades". Handled like crap. When getting the front rubber swapped and a bearing repack, the shop called to inform me there was no spacer between the bearings! I brought the rear wheel in the next day which turned out to have the same problem. Rode way better after that.
