C'mon guys, they're 700lb bikes with 70hp from the factory. I'm pretty sure given equally skilled riders, the softtail/dyna guys would be within a second or two of each other around a track....while the guy on the Duc 1098-S laps them for the 5th time...in second gear...while sipping his morning coffee...

(I missed this post until others started quoting it.....)
This is SO true. We're talking about Harleys, guys.
And, trust me, you don't need a 1098 (or 1198). My air-cooled Monster 1100 will do that to any Harley. (So don't blame the EPA guys.)
I guess I need to get a coffee cup holder for it now
Well there must be a lot of homos on hdforums, because at any given time there is a lot more people in the softail thread then there is the Dyna thread.
I believe comparing a Dyna and a Softtail is comparing apples and oranges. However pointing out that the best handling Softtail, Fatboy, handles just as well or better than the worst handling Dyna, Wideglide, is probably not helping the pro-Softtail crowd. Softtails are more about style and Dynas are more about no-frils. As far as the unintelligent question comment, There are no stupid questions, only stupid people who can't answer them.
I think you missed the point, I'm not comparing bikes here, The WG is a great bike and I wouldn't mind owning one, I'm not interested in "helping the pro-softtail crowd" as you've stated. I'm pointing out that there is no intelligent way to compare the handling performance of a Softtail to a Dyna. You CAN compare bikes model to model. Some Softtails handle better than some Dynas, and some Dynas better than some Softtails. As far as your last statement is concerned "There are no stupid questions, only stupid people who can't answer them" it should read "there are no stupid questions or answers only people who lack the intellect to comprehend what is being said". Have a nice day.

Cant figure out why you Dyna guys are all so offensive, maybe its from all the wrenching you been doin making you cranky. After all it is just a step up from a Sportster right and what is wrong with that.

But the Dyna's we have the better motor the (A) motor and not the (B) motor. I like more power and faster RPM's any day.
