Making a silver engine black.

As said above, it can simply be painted with some off the shelf high temp paint. This will work. The best way (short of PCing the entire motor) is to pull off your cam, outter primary, tranny and any other simple covers possible. If they are existing silver and you want to go for the black look, have them powder coated to be more durable. To do the engine, take off all the simple stuff that would be in the way, mask any remaining bolts and paint with Harley's high temp texture black spray. This will give a finish identical to factory black. I believe the engine/tranny itself is painted from the factory and all covers are power coated, but not positive on that. You can use brake cleaner or paint thinner to remove the paint from the fins.
Rounder has done his engine twice. Once with off the shelf black spray then redone with the HD stuff. He said the difference isnt huge, but he can definitely tell.
I plan on doing my wife's dyna next month.

I have a night train,this comes with black engine,to keep it like new i always use crc 556 or wd 40 before i wash it.Spray the engine with it,and let i stay on for 15 min,then wash and dry,it always looks like new
